Andare, Partire, Tornare ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Fisher King comes bearing books I think I was driven to work today by Colin Powell. A shorter, more pot-bellied Colin Powell, but hey - a doppleganger nonetheless! Cherbear got me thinking about The Fisher King, so here are some links about mythology about and related to him. Transformations in Celtic Mythology is a good overview of the Arthur mythos in general, including the Celts, the Grail cycle, druids, and other things. If you're a fan of Susan Cooper and The Fionovar Tapestry by GG Kay, this may be an interesting site to visit. Here's a good overview of just the Fisher King. Anyway, there's not much to say, except that I think the Claratin is making me feel a bit woozy. I hope this isn't a permanent state of affairs, because I can't deal with it. Anyway, if you want to read an interesting book that deal with the Fisher King mythology, go read Tim Powers' _Last Call_ where the Fisher King is incarnate in Al Capone, and the whole story is set in Vegas. An awesome book. Or you could go to one of the sources for Tim Powers, and read Eliot's "Wasteland." But now I really, really need to track down the other ASH, A Secret History books. Funny, from time to time I go through spells where I just can't find anything that fits my reading mood, and then I hit one like this, where I can't seem to settle down to one book, but instead want to devour many in one big gulp. And I've got another book coming in the mail - CJ Cherryh's _Angel with a Sword_. Golly, I need more bookshelves. 3:37 p.m. - 2002-04-02 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
