Nibbling the leftovers

My ticket to Boston for the third week in July is purchased, which means Chessica and I are really going, not just talking about going, to see Kateh! I've never been to Boston, so I'm pretty jazzed about the opportunity. I'll be seeing New England for the first time (and hopefully getting some time away from the puddle-inducing humidity of D.C. in the summertime). I'm also hoping Kateh has picked up the local accent, so she sounds like the mayor on The Simpsons.

Spent tonight back at work, docenting for another big group (700 realtors) who were having a swanky party. I actually have a lot of fun doing this, plus we get fed at the end of the night. All those huge half-nibbled trays of food become our temporary property and we can dine just like the rich folks do! I brought a little tupperware and brought Bemo some lamb chops, salmon, smoked Gouda (nummy!) and assorted desserts, most of which were delicious enough to make you wet your pants in ecstacy. And still, so much gets trashed - some of the stuff can be given to shelters, but not the half-eaten cakes and mostly pulled-apart turkeys.

Bemo ended up pulling a shift this morning and this evening - he was boardoping for the Stern show in the am, but the wacky thunderstorms have been creating sattelite dropouts, and his boss decided to put somebody more experienced in who could deal with it faster, and put Bemo back in the overnight position. Very sweet, his boss was - said he wasn't trying to demote Bemo, but the Big Bad Boss would be in town all week and he didn't want Bemo to get yelled at for something he simply hadn't really trained for yet. I think I will bake that man some cookies. He's one of the few people in a supervisory position who understand that sometimes a person needs more time to acquire experience. Bemo has gotten shit from so many bosses from things that weren't his fault (the anthrax episode at his old job, where he was the only person who followed protocol and got canned for it, because it made his slacker manager look bad being a great example). It's nice to see somebody taking care of him for once, instead of treating him like an expendable.

Well, off to screw around a bit and then head to bed. Yesterday, both Bemo and I were so exhausted that we literaly fell into bed at six, and slept the clock around until the next morning. Was blissful, too.
