A Hearty Welcome to Little Red

Everybody needs to welcome Little Red, the newest addition to the Geni and Bemo family. Little Red is a Hyundai Elantra, four-door, four-cylinder (yeah, I know) little cutie pie, which is reminding me how much fun it is to drive stick (although in all honesty, Red only feels zippy because Im used to driving the truck, not because shes actually a speedy little car. And shes really noisy when you get up to highway speed.) She was purchased because she had a truly fantastic price tag - probably because she has some paint scratches that are noticeable, but only cosmetic - and because she was a stick shift in this age of automatics, and because she was an economy car in this age of SUVs. All in all, we got a pretty good deal on her. Hyundai has a pretty fantastic warranty on the things, and we get to take that over, so that was another selling point. Best of all, Bemo now gets 27 miles to the gallon when driving to work, and not 18.

The office move went off, except for the part where my cubicle was supposed to shift forward about a foot. We couldn't do it until the electricians come in and move a plug, and although they were supposed to show on Friday, they never did and I was left to sadly reassemble my computer because god knows when the change will now actually take place.

Spent this morning watching yummy Sean Bean goodness in _Goldeneye_, before heading off to work in the bitter cold. Somehow, I managed to miss all the worst of the busyness, as things were just settling down as I walked in the door. Cher and I had just watched _Othello_ the night before, and Gracie, the shameless hussy, planted herself on Cher's lap and demanded to be admired and petted.

Reading the excellent Tanith Lee, a novel called "Biting the Sun" that I hadn't picked up before. It's fantastic. Lee is such a great, evocative, fabulous (in the older sense of the word) writer. It's a totally different book than her Flat Earth ones, and yet those Lee undercurrents just make it happen.
