One more day and it's all up and ready

Work has been absolutely bonkers recently as we scramble to put up the exhibit before tomorrow evening. Most of the big stuff is up, now we need to do the detail work - the front wall, making sure the plexi lids to the cases are clean, and actually putting the few objects into the cases. Yesterday, I had my first training day at Petsmart - mostly taken up by paperwork and the usual vaguely amusing training videos. Actually, this one was slghtly better than most - not as stilted and gooberific as they usually are. And, sad to say, the woman playing the obsessive dog owner was very true to life. Lots of high-pitched baby talk with her dog, who looked rather disgusted with the whole thing, except for the fact that he got the occasional biscuit.

Then went to see the groomer, who will be my boss - I am, after all, a lowly bather in this whole scheme of puppy salon goodness. I was only supposed to be taking the basic safety test, but ended up washing a dog after the groomer got sidetracked with a customer. Guess I started things off on the right foot. It was actually pretty cool to be working with dogs again, even in such a humble capacity.

Today, the whole morning and much of the after noon was taken up with hanging the two whitework coverlets in the whitework cases. Ecch. Hanging quilts frustrates me, for some reason - mostly because it seemed like there was always one more step that we needed to do before we could actually hang the damn things. Open the two big glass doors, pull open the window that sits in front of the lights, set up the interior frames because these two quilts were smaller than the usual ones we put up in there, fix the velcro, cut some away, reattatch the velcro, restaple things, fix the muslin backing of the quilt, it's not centered, tug it your way, no, tug it my way...yadda yadda endless. I was vastly relieved to be done and put on star double-stick tape duty. (We're using small stars as motifs along the top of the text panels. It looks adorable.)

Apparently we've had a huge interest in this exhibit, so cross your fingers, everybody - it's nice to get some attention at our little museum for a change!
