Andare, Partire, Tornare ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A visit from a friend Had a nice surprise today - my friend E, who is busy interning at the Met museum in NYC, swung by. I went to what passes for a mall here in State College with her, and then out to dinner at the EatNPark for a cheap dinner. T and I are flat-ass broke, and the EatNPark offers relatively good food for a cheap price, plus the ten percent student discount. Never underestimate the ability of a grad student to save a buck. (Plus, buying groceries doesn't make any sense, because we're leaving tomorrow and don't want to haul more stuff back down to Virginia.) So it was a nice day, and she's not going to kill me for taking the job I just got - we were both up for consideration for it, but her internship doesn't free her until August, and they wanted to hire before then. E is a trip - a petite woman with wild eyes who is a bundle of nervous energy. She's unconventional, willing to be shocking, and one of the most fun people I know, even if it does get a little tiring sometimes! It's hard to keep up with somebody so on the move. I got to hear stories of NYC, and the Met, plus her socializing with UN interns who room with her in a dorm-apartment type building in Brooklyn. More another day - I'm wiped. 1:05 a.m. - 2001-07-08 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
