Andare, Partire, Tornare ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Operation Discover DC: Mission Lush Spent most of this holiday asleep, which is, in my opinion, as most holidays should be spent. Got up at about noon and puttered around aimlessly, reading, relaxing, and doing nothing productive whatsoever. At five, I headed over to Cherbear's house, and we embarked on another Operation: Discover DC escapade, to the newly opened Lush store in Georgetown. We made it in with minimal fuss, sucked it up and paid for parking, and headed into the Lush store, which was a wildly appealing place. For some reason, seeing great bars of soap stacked up everywhere just makes you want to buy things. The kalediscope of smells from all their products is a bit overwhelming, because it means that you have to work to smell something specific, but it's still pretty cool. Alas, their prices seem to be signifigantly higher than the websites, probably to offset shipping, although I think that doesn't explain it all entirely. I ended up walking out with a Big Blue bathbomb and a Hot Milk bubble bar. I nearly got a Therapy massage bar, but it was the last one on the shelf and looked a bit mauled. We went and cruised through a little cd store, and then found a really reasonably priced place and had fantastic chili (Cher) and chicken sandwiches (me) with possibly the best fries I've ever put in my mouth. Then, home again home again, with a brief stopover at a Starbucks, and again, no major traffic issues. Whoohoo! Mission successful. Next mission planned - Eastern Markets on a nice Saturday. 9:19 p.m. - 2004-01-19 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
